The Institute of Materials Science (IMS), Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology and the Join and Welding Research Institute (JWRI), Osaka University (Japan), co-organized an online seminar on Joining and Materials Science on March 11, 2021 within the framework of the JWRI-IMS International Laboratory to maintain cooperation activities in the situation of the negative impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Seminar attracted about 30 scientists from the Institute of Materials Science and 10 scientists from Osaka University. Prof. Doan Dinh Phuong (Director of Institute of Materials Science - IMS) and Prof. Tanaka Manabu (Director of the Join and Welding Research Institute - JWRI) had co-chaired the seminar, given the opening speech and closing remarks.
Scientists from the two Institutes (IMS and JWRI) presented eight scientific reports related to the collaborative activities. These topics are being interested from both sides including: An overview of the new research fields at JWRI; Materials and components for Fuel Cell; Carbon Nanomaterials (CNTs) and Applications; Additive Fabrication Technology for Materials; Mechanical properties of the alloy coatings… Intensive discussion of participants after each presentation proved the big interests of both sides with the Seminar topics. Based on these discussion, new issues and aspects for collaboration have been suggested.
The seminar was a great success, contributing to strengthen the cooperation between the Institute of Materials Science – VAST and the Join and Welding Research Institute - Osaka University. The outcome of the seminar will open-up many new ideas for collaboration and also help the leaders of both Institutes to define future activities in the development plan of bilateral cooperation.
