About IWNA 2023

Sixteen years ago, the First International Workshop on Nanotechnology and Application 2007 (IWNA 2007) was held on November 2007 in Vung Tau, Vietnam. The following Workshops (IWNA 2009, IWNA 2011, IWNA 2013, IWNA 2015, IWNA 2017, and IWNA 2019) were also organized successfully (the IWNA 2021 was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic). The Workshops have attracted many scientists coming from various Universities, Institutes, Laboratories and Companies all over the world. For each IWNA, there were about 250-300 participants (including 100 foreigners from 20 countries) with 200-250 papers covering almost every aspect in nanotechnology, varying from fundamental research, nanomaterials synthesis,
processing to nanofabrication of nanodevices and their applications in life science. In IWNA 2019, there were 19 manuscripts from the participants accepted for the Special
Issue of International Journal of Nanotechnology (IJNT).

Continuing the success of the seven Workshops, this year the IWNA 2023 will be held on November 08-11, 2023 in Phan Thiet, Binh Thuan. The IWNA 2023 is jointly organized by Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City (VNUHCM) / Institute for Nanotechnology (INT) and MINATEC (France). It receives the support of the Ministry of Science and Technology and the Department of Science and Technology -
Ho Chi Minh City and other organizations.

The IWNA 2023 will hopefully open an opportunity for international & national scientists to exchange knowledge on various aspects of nanotechnology. Moreover, the broad network for international collaboration in research and education on nanotechnology may be established as the productive results of the Workshop. In addition, as a satellite activity of the Workshop, the Forum on Business opportunities
of Micro-Nanotechnology industry in Vietnam
will be organized to provide a chance for scientists, researchers and business community to exchange business opportunities in Micro-Nanotechnology in Vietnam.

In conjunction with IWNA 2023, the Annual School on Micro-Nanotechnology (MINATEC 2023) will be held in Ho Chi Minh City on November 06-08, 2023. This School is co-organized by MINATEC (France) and INT (Vietnam), and offers various lectures on micro-nanotechnology and discussion about new recent issues in nanotechnology.

Workshop Topics
1. Fundamentals of Nanotechnology (FON)

This track covers the theoretical and computational nanoscience and nanotechnology in physics, chemistry, materials science, engineering, biology, simulations ranging from molecular dynamic of several particles to even larger scale calculations. Papers presenting theoretical advances in nanochemistry, nanofluidics and nanobiotechnology will also be considered for inclusion.

2. Nanofabrication Techniques (NFT)
Progress in conventional techniques for nanofabrication of materials and devices, as well as novel and innovative ones, are still highly needed for further enabling applications relying on nanoscale systems and functions. The focus is put on nanolithography, nanoimprinting, inkjet printing, edge lithography, focused ion beam etching, self assembly, nano thin film and packaging, but contributions are not limited to these techniques.

3. Nanomaterials and Nanodevices (NMD)
In this track, call is made for papers related to all kinds of nanomaterials and nanodevices, including carbon nanotubes and graphene, nano thin films, nanowires, nanomagnetics, nanofluidics, nanocantilevers, nanomembranes, etc. Special attention is given to nanodevices used for drug delivery, energy
harvesting and environmental monitoring.

4. Applications of Micro-Nanotechnology (AMN)
The applications of nanomaterials and nanodevices are continuously expanding. The presentation of new applications in this area is of high interest. Refinement in existing application areas is also of interest including in nanomedicine, energy, environmental monitoring or agriculture. Special attention is given to
applications in the areas of healthcare, RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) based systems, thin film or emerging solar cell technologies.

Publication
Papers presented at the Workshop will be printed in a Proceeding and a CD. The proceedings and CD will be provided to the attendants at the Workshop. Selected papers will be refereed for publication in the Special Issue of the ISI journal International Journal of Nanotechnology of the Inderscience Publisher (Switzerland)
and in other international journals.

About Institute for Nanotechnology
Institute for Nanotechnology (INT) was established in 2004 with the name of Laboratory for Nanotechnology (LNT) as an affiliated member of Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City (VNUHCM). LNT was upgraded to INT on Nov. 25th 2016. This event marked the strong and sustainable
development of our institution after 12 years. Since its establishment, INT operates with two directions: i) fundamental research with publication results which are high quality papers on good international journals (high impact factor); ii) application research, especially products can be applied for environment, energy, agriculture, and biomedical field. INT identifies clearly objectives in science and technology activities which have leading priority in the world, suitable with expertise and ability of INT, also meet demands of society and economy. With its specific structure, at the interface between nanomaterials and microfabrication, INT is well positioned in the landscape of Vietnamese public research to develop technological research. All of them are worldwide forefront research topics and are carefully identified within the capability of INT’s facility.

About Vietnam National University - Ho Chi Minh City
Vietnam National University - Ho Chi Minh City (VNUHCM) was established in January 1995 as a national multi-disciplinary university, formed by the mergence of several existing universities in Ho Chi Minh City. Chartered by the Government, VNUHCM has a mission of becoming Vietnam’s premier institution for higher education to serve the country and its community.

Venue
The Eight International Workshop on Nanotechnology and Application (IWNA 2023)
will be held at Ocean Dunes Resort (4 stars) in Phan Thiet city, Binh Thuan province, Vietnam. Phan Thiet is a coastal city in Southeast Vietnam (about 200 km north of Ho Chi Minh City) and it is the capital of Binh Thuan Province. Traditional fishing villages are fast becoming a popular leisure destination. Resort-style developments have been rising along the coastline, though so far the lives of the fishing communities remain unchanged and Mui Ne long beach is quiet and serene, great for walks, jogging and spectacular sunsets. Phan Thiet has a beautiful beach and it is famous for fish sauce, an ingredient in most Vietnamese dishes. There is a wide range of accommodation, and restaurants offer a huge selection of seafood at very affordable prices. There are golf courses, beautiful pagodas, spectacular red and white sand dunes, and a variety of water sports.
All the participants are invited to joint the following events:
Phan Thiet sightseeing tour
