WORKSHOP SITE: Hanoi, Vietnam
Vietnam is well-known for its rich culture, its delicious food and being an emerging developing country. Less than a century after moving the Kingdom to Thang Long (former name of Hanoi), in 1076, the third King of the Ly dynasty founded in this city the first Vietnamese University, named Quoc Tu Giam (situated in Van Mieu). Hanoi is now a city of preserved culture. It is also the largest center for science and technology of the country. In this year 2010, Hanoi is proud to hold the National Celebration of 1000 years of Thang Long-Hanoi Capital.
WORKSHOP TIME:
November 09-12, 2010
PURPOSE OF THE WORKSHOP:
The purpose of the Workshop is to promote the research and application in the field of advanced materials science and nanotechnology. At the Workshop there will be the invited talks on the actual topics and the reports of the participants on their original works.
The Workshop is also a continuation of the 1st IWONN, 2nd IWONN, 1st IWOFM-3rd IWONN and 1stAMSM-4thIWONN (APCTP-ASEAN) organized in Hanoi 2002, in Hanoi 2004, in Halong 2006 and in Nha Trang 2008.
The coming meeting is expected to be attended by about 300 participants, in which 200 from local and 100 from international institutions (up-to the date of launching this announcement more than 50 distinguished scientists from oversea have confirmed to give invited talks).
SATELLITE/PARALLEL WORKSHOP/SYMPOSIUM:
- Asia Nano Forum, ANF (satellite, November 9, 2010)
- ASEAN-Pakistan Conference on Materials Science, APCOMS 2010 (parallel, November 9-12, 2010)
- 5th Korea-Vietnam Joint Symposium on Quantum Photonics and Nanotechnology (parallel, November 9-12, 2010)
- French-Vietnamese School on Magnetic and Semiconducting Nanomaterials (satellite, November 3-6, 2010)
SCOPE OF THE WORKSHOP:

1. Advanced Materials for Electronics and Photonics (code: MEP)
2. Nanostructured Materials and Devices (code: NMD)
3. Nanotechnology in Life Science and Environmental Technology (code: NLE)
Sessions of the Workshop:
- Plenary sessions
- Parallel sessions
- Posters sessions
PUBLICATIONS:
Contributed articles after peer-review and invited talks (without peer-review but with technical re-edition, if necessary) will be published in one of three journals, accordingly to the scientific topics of the articles.
1. Articles on the topics of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology will be published in a new free-access electronic journal of IOP Publishing (UK) Advances in Natural Sciences: Nanoscience and Nanotechnology Adv. Nat. Sci.: Nanosci. Nanotechnol. (http://iopscience.org/ansn). The publication fee 300 USD for an article with the average length of 8-10 pages or 600 USD for an article with the average length of 20-24 pages will be supported by Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology VAST.
2. Articles on the topics of Materials Physics will be published in a free-access electronic journal of IOP Publishing (UK) Journal of Physics: Conference Series.
The publication fee of 47 USD for an article will be paid by the Organizing Committee.
3. Other articles will be published in the journal Advances in Natural Sciences (http://www.ans.ac.vn) of VAST.
Authors are required to prepare the manuscript accordingly to the Word Guidelines for authors of IOP with the use of the Vancouver system in writing the list of references. A brief Guidelines for authors can be found also in this website.
Authors of invited talks as well as of accepted contributed talks are required to sign the Copyright Agreement with the Editorial Boards of the journals.
